Lisa Hurley and her team at LH Design have been working in Canterbury homes for over 30 years. Lisa’s mission is to work with people to make their spaces not only beautiful but also functional. Lisa knows that good design is timeless and so she works together with her clients to produce results that will look good for years to come.
It’s a good idea to have an Interior Designer working alongside you to offer you a sounding board. At LH Design, we can be as detailed as the project requires. We pride ourselves on tuning in to what you and the project require and adapt the consulting role to suit.
WHAT WE DO
It is very important to have the right team for your project and we see ourselves as assisting you and incorporating what you like into the right products from building materials through to textiles and furniture. Giving you a balance of practicality and aesthetics resulting in a space with harmony.
Working in with your architect, builder and project manager for products, design development and resourcing of products is something we do on a daily basis.
We guide you through the process and prioritise what decisions need to be made so that your trades have all the information when they need it and you don’t feel that anything has been rushed.
We present you with several concepts starting with the larger surface areas right down to the little details and document this from proposed to final. Giving you visuals along the way helps for a sense of confidence to enjoy the journey of building and/or furnishing.
Our lifestyles are forever changing from first homeowners to years of raising children and/or pets and then retirement, these all require different spaces to move and work in.
By getting professional help to pinpoint the detail that matters to you, together we form a brief outlining your current lifestyle and how long you imagine yourself to be in this home, with this information we can help you move forward and make decisions.
Lisa has been passionate about beautiful interior design since she was a small child. She spent several years living in Europe, learning, working and soaking up the culture. She worked hard taking the opportunity to learn practical skills from experts... making curtains & soft furnishings. The time in Europe influences Lisa’s work today, especially the way that old and new objects work together to create a sense of belonging and timelessness. Lisa believes that your home should be a place that reflects who you are and the journey that you are on.

Ronald McDonald House South Island
LH Design are proud supporters of Ronald McDonald House South Island who provide free accommodation and support to families who must travel to Christchurch and Invercargill for their child’s medical treatment. Each year RMHSI provide a home-away-from-home for more than 1,200 families. By removing the stressors of everyday life, families can focus on what matters most – their child.
We continue to support RMHSI through their dinner programme and our design services for the new fit-outs in Christchurch (27 bedrooms) and Southland Hospital (4 bedrooms).
Enchantress Fashion NZ
LH Design are extremely proud to support Enchantress, a local sustainable Fashion label. Enchantress creates timeless statement pieces from scrap fabric, old curtains and discarded mens’ shirts, giving them a second life. We help founder Laura Borrmeister to save our fabric ends and discontinued samples from landfill, transforming them into one of a kind pieces. View Laura's work at www.enchantress.co.nz
